A dog which had gone over a cliff and become trapped halfway down was rescued by members of the Looe and Plymouth Coastguard Teams.

The alert to the incident at Whitsand Bay came just before 9am on Monday.

‘We first had to cut a path through 20ft of bracken at the cliff top,’ said a spokesperson for Plymouth Coastguard Rescue Team.

‘A rescue technician was then lowered down to the dog who was secured in an animal rescue bag. The pair were lowered down to the beach and the uninjured pup reunited with its happy owner.’
