PEOPLE have been clearing up this morning after Saturday’s torrential rain and high winds.

Many roads are affected by debris spread by flood waters.

Firefighters from Liskeard were called out five times on Saturday to deal with storm incidents in Liskeard, Pelynt, Menheniot and Moorswater, where they were needed twice. They warned people to ’be prepared’ for Storm Imogen, due to hit the area on Sunday night and Monday morning.

A driver was rescued from three feet of flood water in Launceston.

Two crews from Launceston Fire Station, two from Bude, the water rescue vehicles from St Austell and Bude and two full-time officers were called to the aid of a person trapped in a van.

Crews set up a hose inflation kit and a boat was used to rescue the casualty who was pushed back to dry land.

Launceston firefighters later posted a picture of flooding and warned drivers: ’When faced with this… turn around.’

In Torpoint, the A374 was flooded between Ferry Lane and High Street for a lengthy period.
