BLACK ice is thought to have caused multiple traffic accidents this morning (Monday, February 15).

One of the coldest nights of the winter so far left many minor roads treacherous, with Looe one of the worst-hit spots. Police received reports of several accidents in the area and on the B3252 Looe-Horningtops road.

Across the Devon and Cornwall force area, police said they had reports of 30 minor accidents on untreated roads.

Forecasters are predicting an even colder night tonight. Police are advising drivers to take care and leave extra time for journeys in icy conditions.
