Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Bodmin on Tuesday (May 29).

Emergency services were called around 10.30pm after the 21-year-old man was assaulted in Gilbert Road.

He sustained a single knife wound to the chest and was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

The offender ran from the scene, possibly towards Morrisons or into fields nearby.

Detectives are investigating the incident and seeking a suspect who is described as around 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a black hooded top.

Detective Constable Andrew Petherick, from Bodmin CID, said it is believed that this was a targeted attack but the motive for the assault was unclear.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity around the Gilbert Road/Raleigh Gardens area at the time of the offence,” he said.
