Theft from outbuildings

Thieves have stolen items worth £1,500 from a bungalow at Stoketon Cross, Saltash.

The items, which included gas powered cutting equipment, a compressor, and around 500 horseshoes, were taken from an outbuilding between March 4 and noon on March 16.

It is thought that the same thieves could be responsible for a break-in from another outbuilding, this time at a bungalow at Elmgate, Saltash on March 14.

On both occasions a white van was seen near the properties.

The van is thought to be a white Ford Transit and on March 14 a man aged about 25 was seen inside it.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

Bring back the kangaroo sign

A sign on the gate of a house in St Cleer, which says "Warning Kangaroos 15k" and has been causing some amusement among villagers for quite some time, has gone missing, the owners, Lorraine and Gary Northcott believing it has been stolen.

They went for a walk on Saturday at about 2.30pm and on their return at 4.30pm discovered the sign gone with just the nail holes left where it had been ripped off.

The couple, who have lived in Australia, have a house full of Australian mementoes and say they really miss the sign.

'It is a joke in the village,' says Lorraine, 'It is of no use to anyone and we would be grateful if whoever took it just put it back over the garden wall'.

They like Australia so much even their house, built on the site of the former St Agatha's Hall, is called 'Mooloolaba' on an Australian shaped name plate.
