CD stolen

A Pioneer-in-car CD player valued at £150 was stolen from a Silver Vauxhall Nova in Carbeile Road, Torpoint on Friday. The theft occurred some time between 8.30pm on the Friday and 11.15am the following morning.

Tractor and lorry collide

An accident involving a three and a half tonne lorry and a tractor digger on the A38 at Cartuther near Liskeard on Monday evening, resulted in a long tailback to the town during the peak evening rush hour at 5pm. One lane of the east bound carriageway was closed for an hour until 6pm while debris was cleared away.

The tractor driver escaped unharmed and the driver of the lorry was taken to Derriford Hospital with a foot injury.

Car out of control

A male driver travelling from East Taphouse to Dobwalls on the A390 was lucky to escape injury when his dark blue BMW spun out of control, landing up in a field on the opposite side of the road at Redpost corner.

The incident occurred at about 10am on Thursday morning, and two cars travelling in the opposite direction had to take avoidance measures.

Lifeboat

Looe lifeboat station has recently received £1,000 from BACTA, the trade association for the amusement arcade industry.

Crime

Crime levels in the West Country are at their lowest in five years - falling by one per cent to buck a national rise on 2.2 per cent.

But Cornwall and Devon did drop from sixth to ninth safest constabulary area.

The drop in crime has been put down to good community safety partnerships, public support and crime prevention schemes, such as CCTV. The overall detection rate was 88 per cent. Of all crimes committed, 45 per cent were theft and handling, 28.6 per cent vehicle crime and 16.4 per cent criminal damage.
