A 90-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after escaping from her blazing flat in Polperro on Sunday afternoon. Fifty firefighters were at the scene.

Mrs May Miles managed to find her way out at the back of the smoke-filled flats on Talland Hill as neighbour Adrian Gibson and Andrew Bryant, who had been driving down the hill at the time, were battling to reach her.
