PARKING in council-owned car parks looks set to rise from 20p to 50p for the first hour despite recommendations for it to be lower in two towns in South East Cornwall.

At the moment all council-owned car parks in the former Caradon area charge 20p for the first hour of parking, which is less than most other areas in Cornwall.

The council has ignored a recommendation from the Cabinet Parking Policy Advisory Panel to charge 30p for the first hour in Torpoint and Saltash.
