A marathon fundraising campaign that started with an icy New Year’s Day dip ends this August with a 200-mile rowing challenge as the Row Cornwall crew set off from Fowey on an eight day trip around the Cornish coast.

Starting on August 5, the 11-strong team, all friends from St Austell and Fowey, will row in a Cornish pilot gig right around the coast, also taking in an 18-mile cycle ride between Calstock and Bude to enable them to begin and finish the challenge in Fowey Harbour.

The aim is raise money to fund much-needed research into pancreatic cancer and the team have already smashed their initial £10,000 target. A string of events,  including a community fun day, charity auction, and pub bingo evenings, all held over the past eight months, have brought in over £16,500.

If you’d like to cheer the Row Cornwall Team on their way, they will be setting off from Fowey Harbour at 9am on Friday.
