A great-grandmother has celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends – and a go on her brand new skateboard.

Barbara Paynter, of Callington, is not your average centenarian, if such a thing exists. An active member of many groups in the town,

Barbara has a social life and interests which would be the envy of someone half her age. ‘When you get older, it’s important to keep as active as you can and try and lead a good life,’ she said. ‘Don’t shut yourself away – try to stay interested in things.’
