SALTASH started the brighter of the two sides in their Tribute Cornwall and Devon League match against Plymouth Barbarians and were on the board eight minutes in courtesy of a Max Venables penalty.

Barbarians found their rhythm and started to pressure the Ashes in their own half, and soon levelled the scores through Scott Sheldon.

Saltash rallied but more pressure from Barbarians rewarded them with a further three points.

The Ashes woke up in the second half and made a strong start, but it was short lived. A strong scrum saw captain Ryan Rayner claim a push over try with Venables converting to make the score 10-6.
