THE Cornwall Triathlon series competitors who took part in six or more events attended an awards ceremony at the Princess Pavilion, Falmouth.

Rachel Haspell, of the Tempus Leisure events team, said: 'It was a delightful evening and a great way to acknowledge the competitors' hard work and commitment through the season. We had awards for everybody who completed six events and each age group category received a first, second and third award.'

The overall male winners were: 1 Neil Eddy, 2 Dave Bartlett, 3 Mike Birchmore and 1 Melissa King, 2 Debbie Starkey, 3 Alicia Livingstone.

Ceri Harvey, Tempus events manager, said: 'The series has been a huge success this year with nearly 1,000 competitors taking part in at least one triathlon. We would like to thank all the organisations and volunteers including Cornwall Freewheelers, who provided all motorbike officials, and East Cornwall Harriers, Carn Runners, Tri-Logic and Gylly and Hayle Surf Lifesaving Clubs for providing marshals and safety cover.'
