A Caradon Swimming Club member is celebrating this week after creating two new British records at the Swim South East Long Course Masters in Crawley.

Helen Kula-Przezwanski set her first record in the 200 metres backstroke for the 60-64 age group, swimming it in 2.55.92 to beat the previous record by 12 seconds.

Helen then went on to set another record for the 200 Intermediate in a time of 2.58.45 – knocking just over three seconds off the previous time.

Helen finished off the weekend by winning gold for the 200m freestyle and taking silver in the 50 BK, finishing second to Ireland’s Liz Cozgrave, who set a new European record in the event.

A club spokesman said: ‘It’s been a great few days for the Caradon Masters and they are to be congratulated for their hard work and commitment.

The Masters will be back in action in the Welsh National Pool in Swansea on March 2-3 when they compete in the Swim Wales Open Masters and Seniors meet.

Caradon hosted their fourth annual New Year Masters at Saltash which attracted swimmers from 21 clubs from all over the country.

The competition was a great success and saw Caradon taking an impressive haul of 24 medals in their respective age groups and coming first overall.
