Banners, balloons and bugles heralded Sue Poole as she hosted her 'Drive In' to celebrate taking on her role as Lady Captain at St Mellion Golf Club.

The position of where the ball finished after the first drive was pinpointed by Thelma McEvoy, who won a bottle of champagne.

A nine-hole competition followed, played in the format of a one-two-three waltz.

This was won by Hilda McKinley, Vera Nancekivell, Thelma McEvoy and Stella Hancock, with 38 points.

Runners-up were Chris Crichton, Hilary Wratton, Janet Lyme and Jean Dransfield, with 36 points on count-back from Sheila Marquand, Pam Hughes, Marilyn Zasikowski and Di Gray.
