A BRIAN Stacey hat-trick saw Torpoint Athletic beat Bodmin Town, 7-0, to stretch their winning run to nine games and open up a five-point lead over the chasing pack in the East Cornwall Premier League.

It took the home side until the tenth minute to open the scoring lead through Tom Hall, with Stacey adding a second just five minutes later.

Torpoint kept up the pressure and made it 3-0 though Darren Shepherd, before Stacey added the next two to complete his treble and make it 5-0 going into half-time.

It was all the hosts in the second period, with both Shepherd and Chris Todd adding to the scoreline within ten minutes of the restart.

And it could have been more had Dean Cardew not missed a penalty kick.
