PREMIER leaders St Dominick showed why they are champions as they fought back from 2-0 down to see off previous Runabout Shield holders St Neot.
The hosts started well, which included a 34 break from Mark Story, however Tony Farrant led the fightback with Martin Pitcher (33) and Chris Bond (25) also impressing.
Dobwalls only avoided a whitewash against fellow new boys Essa Club thanks to breaks of 39 and 29 from Andy Cole, while Looe Social are just three adrift of the leaders and five points ahead of St Neot after Darran Lock started off with a 53 break as they came away from Lerryn with maximum points.
Chairman Darren Hunn knocked in a 32 as St Dominick B led 3-0 against Pelynt D, before Gerry Markwell beat Martin Hunn for the visitors’ only point.
Freathy made the journey to Pelynt A and saw Dave Nicholls clear up with a 39 break. Chris Trick, Simon Deacon and Anthony West (second frame) also made sure they won 4-1.
Elsewhere in the division, Calstock’s Kevin Rich made a 31 break in his win against Nigel Gilbert, however that was their only success all evening against Downderry A.
Only two points now separate the top six in Division One.

Andy Gallantry’s 26 was in vain as in-form Menheniot saw off promotion hopefuls Pelynt B, while the biggest win in the division came from Luckett who whitewashed hosts Lanreath 5-0 courtesy of Danny Hobbs, Andrew Pengelly, Dave Jones, Aldon Livingston and Ivan Judd.
Louis Lewis was the sole winner for St Germans as Liskeard Cons came out 4-1 winners, while the battle of the basement teams saw winless Trevelmond entertain Downderry B.
The hosts led 2-0 via Darren O’Shea and Greg West, however Anthony Prowse along with captain Mick Crutchley, who won two frames under the four-player rule, left the hosts scratching their heads.
