EAST Cornwall Harriers’ Simon Webber took victory in the M70-74 category at the Marazion 10K on Sunday, September 27.
The veteran’s excellent time of 50 minutes and five seconds secured victory by over five minutes from Newquay’s Keith Bartram, while club-mate Margaret Ann Kinahan’s time of 1:21:51 was enough for third in the F70-74 section. The other Harrier to finish the penultimate race of the 2026 Cornish Grand Prix race series was Maria Moynan in a time of 1:07:36.
Nine members from Bodmin also headed down the A30 with two – Mark Roby (39:08 – M50-54) and Natasha Stevens (50:53 – F50-54) – securing second and third respectively, while the others to finish were Matthew Renals (42:01), Emma Shaw (47:12), Mark Barlow (1:03:51), Sean Taylor (1:05:00), Claire Barlow (1:07:27), Kelly Renals (1:07:35) and Katherine Denton (1:08:03).
Despite a near two-hour journey from Saltash and potentially further afield, 12 Tamar Trotters were in action, although many of the club’s star runners were absent.
Both men to compete – Barry Olver (56:56) and Trevor Willians (58:37) – were home in under an hour, while the ladies times were led by Lisa Blenkinsop’s 1:01:59, although it was Sue Mason’s 1:15:35 that was good enough for second in the ladies’ 75-79 age-group.
Maggie Bunting (1:02:34), Teresa Lakeman (1:04:30), Lisa Shennan (1:05:00), Ruth Weaver (1:11:23), Amy Barraball (1:17:22), Rebecca Vincent (1:17:22), Jill Morton (1:25:57), Julie Tuffnell and (1:25:59) also got around.
Looe Pioneers Running Club’s Paul Wright (1:07:34) continued his good form in the men’s 80-plus category to win by nearly three minutes from Hayle’s Stewart Townend, while Oliver Finnimore finished in a healthy time of 43:02.
Clive Finnimore (45:11), Jed Matthews (49:12) and Amber Bolger (55:56) crossed the finishing line inside an hour, while Helen Lawes (1:03:40), Simon Lawes (1:05:39) and Marc McEwan-Rice (1:16:45) also got around.
