Saltash Rugby are aiming to put out a women’s XV in the coming season in their aim to give more people in the town an opportunity to play the game.

They are currently holding try-out sessions at the club on Moorlands Lane (7pm on a Thursday evening) for any ladies (over 18) who would like to give rugby a go or even return to the game.

The Ashes’ 1st XV are also preparing for the step-up in standards they know the Western Counties (West) league will bring.

New captain of the first team will be half-back Todd Crofts, who has been setting the pace in pre-season training.

The 2nd XV will be skippered again by veteran utility back Rupert Allen.
