A NEW name could well be added to the list of National Redwing sailing champions this weekend.
The distinctive clinker-built dinghies have left their spiritual home in Looe Bay – the legendary Uffa Fox designed these boats specifically for 'around the cans' racing off the South East Cornwall fishing harbour back in the 1930s – and have decamped to the Isles of Scilly for their annual Championship Week.
At exactly the halfway mark of the title series, Looe Sailing Club's Peter Kinver and Joe Palfrey were in pole position, with two races due to be sailed yesterday and a final one today.
