Menheniot Looe Cricket Club has been resinstated to Division 1 of the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League.
The move is as a result of Troon Cricket Club withdrawing its 1st XI from the division.
Troon asked the league's management committee (LMC) to accept its request to withdraw and, after considerable discussion, the committee agreed.
The LMC investigated the current status of Troon's playing strength. As a result they decided not to enforce league rule 10.8 that the 2nd XI step up to County 1 to fulfil the 1st team fixtures, given the relative inexperience and young ages of the 2nd XI players. The 2nd XI will therefore be listed in Division 2 West as Troon 1st XI.
In accordance with League Rule 11.1.9.2, where a vacancy occurs before February 1, relegated Menheniot Looe were asked if they wanted to be reinstated and they accepted and will replace Troon.
Menheniot Looe secretary Alan Sedgley said the 1st XI squad had been consulted and there had also been a wider informal consultation at the club. He said the club was keen to play at the highest level possible.
The league now intends to fill the vacancy in Division 2 East and ensuing vacancies in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 East. The relevant clubs, with first refusal, have been contacted and when the divisions have been confirmed revised listings and fixtures will be announced.
