THE torrential rain seen last Saturday cleared the following day to allow a surprisingly good track (albeit with wet run-up areas) for the President's Day challenge match between Calstock and St Erme.

Calstock won the toss and chose to bat. An excellent 54 partnership from openers Ross Warner (24) and pinch-hitter Ryan Hewitt (28) gave Calstock a solid foundation, but some good bowling in the middle overs from Mark Everett (2-3) and Sylvan Pook (1-10) slowed things down somewhat.

After Nathan Parsons was bowled by Everett and Marc Jones adjudged lbw by Pook, Calstock were wobbling on 63 for four.

However, a 40-run stand from Tom Sharland and Ian McCarthy took Calstock over the 100-mark.
