Looe’s marksmen leave their centenary year and enter 2016 with some good wins on the range behind them; they have won the first two team matches and have two individuals in Cornwall Target Shooting Association finals at Helston later this month, and two left standing in the Bob Ellis KO competition for individuals.
They won their first match of the season, at home against Polperro, 460/438.
The last match of 2015, against Liskeard, also at home, was a very close, low-scoring match which resulted in a one point win for Looe, 457/456.
In the Horse Shoe League’s Bob Ellis individual handicap knockout competition Looe have just two shooters remaining in the quarter-finals – Pete Ivey and Stuart Williams.
The Cornish Target Shooting Association has introduced a new Queen Alexandra Vets and nearly Vets competition. Pete Ivey came equal third in the top division and goes to the final at Helston on January 24. Stuart Williams was bottom in that competition, but gets to a Helston final on the same date by coming top in division D of the Charlie competition.
So, with several new recruits following the centenary celebrations and open day, some team wins under their belt, and a few finals in prospect, Looe Rifle Club is looking forward to the year ahead.
