Cornish Ivy Summer Pool League

Sunday saw the final round of matches played in the Cornish Ivy Summer Pool League, with all to play for on the night.

‘Leftie’ Brian Phillips and ‘Farmer’ Will Doidge both needed heavy wins against each other to stand any chance of catching league leader Mark Dustan.

Will got his sweet revenge for the reverse fixture drubbing in the snooker match, running out comfortable winner. The pool, however, was a different matter with Brian letting a 3-0 lead slip before securing the the last frame for a 4-4 draw – the result saw Will and Brian come second and third respectively.

The ‘Beard to be Feared’ Mike Ivey had to settle for fourth place after sneaking the snooker match by two points against the ‘Bandit’ Rob Banfield. The pool, however, went Bandit’s way as he ran the card for a 6-2 rout. This result meant ‘Young Gun’ Jude Phillips just needed to beat Banfield to finish above him in the league standing. It all started badly for Phillips as he lost the snooker but then proceeded to pick up the points needed for a sixth place finish.

This meant ‘Machine Gun’ Rob Ivey sat tight just behind his brother Mike in the league for a fifth place finish. Nigel Walker played his last game against Brian Phillips and again went down heavily in the snooker but took sweet revenge in the pool handing Phillips a 6-2 whipping. Walker was condemned to eight place.
