Torpoint Ath 3 St Blazey 2
Point finally produced the performance that their followers were convinced they were capable of as they beat a useful Blazey side who have claimed some notable scalps this season.
'We were excellent in the first half as we never let St Blazey settle and the game should have been out of sight by the interval,' said manager Bradley Yeo
'The second half it was only down to our sheer hard work that we held on to the three points as Blazey threw everything at us but in the end the lads thoroughly deserved their victory,' he added.
Point did not look like a side that had gone into the game on the back of a five-match winless run as they pushed Blazey back from the first whistle, taking a seventh minute lead.
Gary Hird was fouled in the box for Reece Shanley to convert the penalty but the visitors hit back with Aaron Spears' 20- yard drive, restoring parity 19 minutes later. But Blazey joy was short-lived as Ben Applegate's fine pass put Josh Grant clear to steer his shot low past the advancing Dave Painter.
Grant was on target again, 10 minutes before the break, as he timed his run to perfection to latch on to James Robertson's pass to fire home from 15 yards.
The second half did not share the excitement of the first period with the only goal coming on 71 minutes when Spear's precise cross found Warren Daw heading home from 15 yards.
