Talk of the town – Looe Sailing Club flag officers rubbed shoulders with the sport's royalty when they attended a champagne reception at the Tullet Prebon London International Boat Show, staged inside the capital's impressive ExCeL exhibition centre.
They were there to be honoured for their organisation of last summer's GP.14 World championships, which was voted the second best event of the year by readers of Yachts & Yachting magazine, whose editor, Gael Pawson, admitted that no-one was ever going to beat the Olympic and Paralympic Regatta at Weymouth. In London to accept the many plaudits which came their way were, (left to right), GP.14 officer David Rowlands, Gareth Shaw (rear commodore), Roger Hocking (principal race officer), Gill Beddows (GP.14 class secretary), Jon Crabb (vice-commodore) and Looe member and master craftsman Richard Vasey.
