Cara Collins announced her return to badminton action after an injury lay-off by winning three titles at the Cornwall County Championships.
The 15-year-old Liskeard School and Community College pupil won the women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles at the annual tournament at St Austell Leisure Centre.
Cara’s feat is all the more remarkable because she has been out injured since damaging her back in an international tournament in France in the summer.
Her mother, Clare, said: ‘This was the first time in six weeks Cara had competed free from injury.
‘Cara now holds every title available to her in Cornwall.’
Top seed and title holder Cara beat her friend, Mollie Bailey, 21-6, 21-15 in the women’s singles final. Her speed and control proved too powerful.
In the women’s doubles, Cara and Amy Cox beat Bronwen Wotton and Amy Polglase 21-16, 14-21, 21-15.
The final event of the weekend was the mixed doubles, where Cara teamed up with Tom Lyle to beat Jack Dyer and Mollie Bailey 21-14, 21-14 in the final.
Tom, a former Liskeard Junior Club player, and Cara overpowered Jack and Mollie to become well-deserved new champions to complete a fine weekend of top-quality Cornish badminton.
