BOND TIMBER LISKEARD SNOOKER LEAGUE
Liskeard Cons C are the winners of the Handicap Cup after a close match in the final rounds at St Neot Club last week.
They defeated holders Pelynt C in the semi-final with Mark Dustan leading the way with a 35-break against Jim Simpson. On the adjoining table Danny Hobbs won the first frame for Luckett but St Dominick A fought back to overcome a 56-point deficit to take the next three frames.
The final was a close match but the handicap points proved to be just a bit too much for the Premier Division leaders to catch up, despite excellent breaks from Tony Farrant, Chris Bond and Gary Hughes. The Cons held on for a narrow victory as Dustan hit another 35-break and Malcolm Scott calmly picked off the final colours in the last frame.
In a rearranged league match in the Premier Division the season's top break was improved when Kevin Steed hit 95 at Looe Social C, overtaking team-mate Alec Snell's effort set the previous week. This match also featured one of the season's tightest finishes as Matt Vessey and Alan Snell both registered breaks before Matt got home by just two points
This week breaks were made Kevin Steed 95, Gary Hughes 56 , Matt Vessey 43, Chris Bond 40, Tony Farrant and Mark Dustan both 35, Alan Snell 32 and Ian Northey 31.
