RICHARD Woods has stood down as joint first-team manager of Liskeard Athletic’s Peninsula League team.

Together with Martin Hodge, he guided the Blues to the Division One West title two seasons ago.

The Blues also made a good fist of life back in the Premier Division last season before the campaign was declared null and void due to COVID-19, and they are currently in ninth place in Premier West.

A club statement said: “Liskeard AFC are saddened to announce that Richard Woods has made the decision to stand down as first-team manager.

“Richard will still support the club and remain a committee member.

“The club would wholeheartedly like to thank Richard for his devoted service over the years and he is a superb ambassador for Liskeard AFC.

“Martin Hodge and Lee Mann will continue in their management roles.”

Blues will be without forward Tom Savigar for the rest of the season as he has returned to university in North Carolina in the USA until May to continue his football scholarship.

The Peninsula League’s top scorer, James Lorenz, meanwhile, has undergone surgery on a knee injury.
