Saltash United launch the defence of the Cornwall Senior Cup on Saturday with an awkward looking first round tie away to Godolphin Atlantic.

The Ashes, who lifted the prestigious county trophy in May, will need to be at their best.

Saltash manager Matt Cusack said: ‘Godolphin are always a tough side to play, particularly at home where they play their pitch very well.

‘Winning the cup has raised expectation levels around the club and we very much want to defend our trophy at the first time of asking.’

It’s a big day for Looe Town, who welcome SWPL giants Falmouth Town.

Looe have lost their first six East Cornwall Premier League games this season and last week crashed out of the league cup at St Blazey.

Another ECPL side, St Stephens Borough, have a home tie against SWPL opposition, and despite indifferent form, Borough will fancy their chances against Ludgvan.

Ludgvan are struggling to survive. They have lost all nine games and last week crashed 16-0 at St Dennis after turning up with only six players.

There are two attractive-looking ties for South East Cornwall neighbours Millbrook and Torpoint Athletic.

In-form Millbrook travel to last season’s Senior Cup runners-up Mousehole, while at The Mill, Torpoint take on St Austell, who they lost 4-0 to last week in the league.

Liskeard Athletic travel to St Agnes.
