Saltash United will face Mousehole in the Cornwall Senior Cup final after the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League division one west side stunned premier division St Austell in Wednesday’s semi-final.
Mousehole beat the Lillywhites 3-1 after extra time at Helston in a thrilling match watched by a crowd of 381.
And it was substitute Steven Ziboth who proved the hero for the West Cornwall side, scoring twice in the last five minutes to clinch a place in the final of the county’s most prestigious cup competition.
Mousehole got off to a great start with Luke Johnson putting them ahead after six minutes but Martin Giles equalised 10 minutes later.
The match was often feisty and tempers boiled over on the hour when St Austell midfield man Chris Reski was shown a red card for a late challenge.
But five minutes later Mousehole were also reduced to 10 men when Liam Andrew picked up his second yellow card.
Neither side was able to force a winner in normal time, and the tie looked to be heading for a penalty shootout when substitute Ziboth fired Mousehole 2-1 ahead in the 116th minute.
St Austell poured forward in search of an equalizer and central defender Tom Chambers came desperately close in the dying seconds before Mousehole launched one last breakaway and Ziboth scored his second and their third to spark wild celebrations.
The Senior Cup final is on Easter Monday, April 2, at Blaise Park, St Blazey.
Saltash beat Torpoint Athletic 3-1 in the other semi-final at Liskeard on Tuesday evening.
