Cardiff City’s Premier League squad arrived at Liskeard Athletic’s Lux Park ground on Monday morning for the first training session of their week-long stay in Cornwall.

Neil Warnock’s players were put through their paces as pupils from Liskeard School and Community College watched from the stand.

Cardiff will be training at Liskeard every morning this week and a number of local schools have taken up the offer of being able to watch top professional footballers training.

The best news for all concerned on Monday was the arrival of some desperately needed rain to help soften the playing surface.

Tonight, Cardiff’s first team play the first of three friendlies this week with a trip to Tavistock’s Langsford Park.
