Godolphin Atlantic 2 Millbrook 1

Millbrook fell to their third defeat of the season at Godolphin on Bank Holiday Monday - but they know they should have returned home with at least a point.

In this high noon kick-off in the South West Peninsula League premier division, Newquay-based Godolphin were ahead in the 16th minute when long-serving striker Phil Lowry was on target and he struck again to make it 2-0 after 32 minutes.

It was just reward for a confident start by the home side and they took the two-goal lead into half-time.

Millbrook then had a golden opportunity to reduce the arrears when they were awarded a penalty just after the break, but the usually-reliable Tom Payne saw his spot kick saved by Ethan Fearn.

Millbrook continued to press but on several occasions they were thwarted by the excellent Fearn in the Godolphin goal.

But even Fearn was unable to stop a Zak Pearce header in the 76th minute, which set up an exciting end to the game.

Millbrook pushed for an equalizer but Godolphin held firm to collect their second win of the season.
