Liskeard Athletic made it seven wins out of seven when they inflicted a first defeat of the season on title rivals Porthleven at Lux Park.

But joint manager Martin Hodge is urging the squad not to get carried away with their early season success.

James Lorenz’s goal was enough to maintain their 100 per cent record in SWPL division one west win, leaving them level on points with Porthleven with a game in hand.

A 4-1 home defeat on Tuesday for Wadebridge against St Dennis also left Liskeard only a point off top spot with three games in hand.

Hodge said: ‘Saturday was a great result for us and a good team effort which keeps our good start to the season going.

‘But we know we have got to keep working hard as a squad. It’s still early days and there are a lot of games to go.’
