Holders Saltash are through to the Cornwall Senior Cup final after an emphatic victory over Wendron at Sticker’s Burngullow Park tonight.

The Ashes will face either St Austell or Falmouth Town in the final on Easter Monday, April 22, at a venue to be decided.

Saltash opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a Danny Lewis penalty after Ryan Richards had been tripped by Wendron goalkeeper Dan Steadman.

But division one west side Wendron responded well and were unfortunate not to force an equaliser.

But five minutes before half-time Lee Hawkins, a Saltash second team striker making his senior debut, fired in from close range to double the Ashes’ lead.

If the first half had been even stevens, the second half belonged to Saltash and two quickfire goals from Richards, in the 55th and 64th minutes, put the tie beyond reach.
