Dobwalls face a difficult visit to second placed East Devon club Alphington in the league today (Sunday) after a terrific 5-3 win over Illogen RBL last weekend in the Cornwall Cup First Round.
The tie was finally played on the third time of asking when, what was initially Illogan’s home fixture, was switched to Lantoom Park after two postponements.
Dobwalls started the game well, but it was the visitors who took an early lead when they broke through and scored against the general balance of play.
But it didn’t take too long before Dobwalls were on level terms, following their opening goal scored by Laura Hilleson-Peritt (pictured in Argyle colours).
Dobwalls then took the lead through Coral Smith, only for Illogan to equalise.
Dobwalls had also struck the woodwork twice, and deserved to be ahead, but found themselves level at half-time 2-2.
Jade Beeny, scoring her first goal for the club, restored Dobwalls’ lead early in the second half, before the spirited Illogan side levelled things yet again.
But Dobwalls showed much character in responding to these setbacks.
There was a first goal for the club from new signing Becky Richards who put in an excellent debut performance. Bearing in mind she had been out of football for a period, there was plenty to indicate that Becky will be a valuable edition to the Dobwalls side.
Laura Hilleson-Peritt also got her second of the game as Dobwalls took a deserved 5-3 winning lead.
Dobwalls join RNAS Culdrose, Callington Town, Charlestown, Bude Town, St Agnes, Mabe and cup holders Newquay Celtic in the hat for the quarter final draw.
