Edgcumbe have announced they are withdrawing from the East Cornwall Premier League to concentrate on playing in the Duchy League.
Edgcumbe FC was formed in 2002 with the aim of climbing the divisions and reach the East Cornwall Premier League. This they did by climbing the Duchy Leagues to enter ECPL Division One for the 2009/10 season, finishing third.
The big breakthrough came in the 2013/14 season when they won promotion to the Premier Division. They followed this by finishing third in the top flight before improving to second place last season.
The Duchy Premier side will now be the main senior side with the U18s continuing into their second season.
Pre-season starts for both teams at Horson Field, on Tuesday, June 28, 6.15pm – old and new faces all welcome.
Edgcumbe’s decision to drop out of the league means St Blazey, who finished third in Division One, will be offered the chance to take their place bringing the Premier Division back up to 16 clubs with 14 in Division One.
