There was a double cheque presentation to St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth, handed over by St Dominick Football Club and Callington Cricket Club.
The money was raised in memory of Chloe Hunn, who tragically died of cancer. The Hunn family have been deeply involved with both sporting clubs.
Ian Hunn, Chloe’s uncle, said: ’It was decided in the summer to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice in thanks to their support given to Chloe and the Hunn family.
‘A decision was made in August to raise funds by having a mini football tournament involving St Dominick, Calstock, Gunnislake and Callington Town football clubs.
‘Everything from raffle prizes to burgers for the barbecue were provided free by a number of donations so no costs were incurred.
‘The support was superb as £5,681.71 was raised. At the same time Callington CC organised a cricket match which raised a further £523.
‘It is hoped that this will be repeated each year and be known as the Chloe Hunn Memorial Trophy.’
On hand to receive the cheques was St Luke’s representative Peter Ward, who said: ‘Everyone has been superb in raising these funds.’
