Torpoint Athletic 6-2 Newquay

Luke Cloke scored his second hat-trick in three games as Torpoint stretched their unbeaten league run to six games with an emphatic victory at The Mill.

Cloke has stepped up from Torpoint’s second team and has now scored seven goals in three games.

Newquay never recovered from conceding three goals in the first eight minutes.

The match was only three minutes old when Darren Hicks scored with a lovely 25 yard curling shot into the top corner.

Three minutes later, Lee Bevan corner found Josh McCabe at the far post to head home from close range.

In the eighth minute, Cloke ran clear of the visiting defence and shot past clear the visiting keeper Dan Peters to put the home side three goals ahead.

Cloke then headed home a loose ball from eight yards after a mistake in the Newquay defence to make it 4-0 after 20 minutes.

Newquay got a goal back on the half hour when Jack Bray-Evans shot home from eight yards after a great initial save by home keeper Jason Peters.

But five minutes later Torpoint restored their four-goal lead when a cross found Gary Hird to shoot home from 10 yards.

Ollie Dart scored Newquay’s second goal after picking up a loose ball from a great Peters save to make it 5-2.

Cloke completed his hat-trick just past the hour mark as he shot from 15 yards after interchanging passes with Scott Blatchford.

Torpoint continued to make chances and in last five minutes they had two goal-line clearances from shots from Mike Roberts and Blatchford.
