Former Torpoint Athletic striker Adam Carter scored a hat-trick as holders Bodmin Town beat Godolphin Atlantic 4-0 on Wednesday night to move into the quarter-finals of the Walter C Parson League Cup.

The game at Priory Park was goalless when Godolphin had goalkeeper Shaun Semmens sent off for a rash challenge on Adam Kelly in the 23rd minute, with outfield player Aaron Dilley going in goal.

Ten minutes later Carter put Bodmin ahead from the penalty spot before Godolphin were awarded their own spot kick, but Kyle Moore saved Scott Flannigan’s effort.

Bodmin were also reduced to 10 men when Adam Kelly was sent off.

Bodmin were guilty of spurning opportunities until Carter scored twice in 10 minutes midway through the second half, before they were also reduced to 10 men when Kelly was sent off.

But Dan Sullivan completed the home side’s scoring with a free kick from 25 yards in the last minute.
