SALTASH United have moved quickly to appoint a replacement for outgoing manager Matt Cusack by promoting his assistant Dane Bunney to the role.
Cusack stunned the South West Peninsula League club on Sunday when he resigned from his position at Kimberley Stadium to take over as head coach at Western League Premier Division side Plymouth Parkway.
Bunney was the obvious choice as he has been assistant to Cusack during their successful five-year spell together as the Ashes management team.
He was also recommended to the club’s board as his successor by Cusack.
A club statement said: ’We are keen to move forward with Dane towards a successful future.’
A delighted Bunney commented on Twitter: ’This is one of my proudest moments in football.
’Not many get to take over a special group of players and a team like the one I am.
’I can’t wait to get going again and finish the job we started last season.
’Our aims and aspirations remain the same.’
