CORNWALL'S Steve Evans won the Bourse Welsh Closed Masters Men's Over 65s event in Swansea.

Evans, from Millendreath near Looe, had tried to win the tournament before, but without success.

However, this time he showed his class by beating his fellow Welsh international, Mike Mooney, in the final.

He also saw off another Wales player, Leighton Jenkins, in the last four.
