THE St Mellion Fossils golf society held their Ladies' Night at the club, when 88 members, their ladies and guests enjoyed dinner and dancing to The Jazz Company, featuring Fossils' own Terry Sloggett.

Captain Mike Whitehouse praised the help he had received from his wife, Jan, and from St Mellion during his captaincy, as well as the support given to the Fossils by their ladies.

Whitehouse revealed that during his year in office, he had received charitable donations totalling nearly £3,200, with his chosen charity being the Looe-based Ellie's Haven, which aims to offer relief to families caring round-the-clock for children suffering from long-term and life-limiting illnesses.

He then presented the cheque to Julie and Nigel Libby, the inspiration behind the charity, which will be holding an open day in the near future.
