Division Cup First Round
Polperro 8
Callington Town 3
This was a terrific game which looked as if it could go either way. That was until the 70th minute when Polperro knocked in four unanswered goals after Callington had hit back to reduce the arrears to 4-3 just after half time.
Polperro took a 10th minute lead when hat-trick hero Rob Spencer converted a penalty. Jordan Powell quickly added the second with a superb free kick before Tom Hall reduced the arrears from the penalty spot.
Andy Cordner made it 3-1 with Hall reducing the arrears again from close range. Polperro then made it 4-2 at half-time through Dale Hooper.
Callington struck within two minutes of the second half to reduce the arrears through Josh McCabe and the game could have gone either way with both teams having chances. Unfortunately the roof fell in for the visitors as, once Spencer added his second goal, it was quickly followed by goals from Hooper and substitute James Morris which left Spencer to complete his hat-trick to see Polperro at home to Torpoint Athletic in the next round.
