LISKEARD-LOOE'S under-14s put in a superb performance on their way to beating Truro, 27-5, and claiming this season's Cornish Plate at Saltash RFC.

The Lions made a lively start and got the first points on the board through a Tom Dinnis penalty.

And the same player was instrumental in extending his team's cushion, chipping into the corner for a line-out which led to Angus Tamblyn making a good break, giving Goron Jones the opportunity to touch down.

Despite Truro reducing the arrears courtesy of a try from their talented No.8, Declan Matthews, that was the last score of the half.

Dinnis was next to touch down following a great individual run, with the Liskeard-Looe forwards providing a solid scrum in the Truro half.

Truro responded well and kept the Lions pinned back in their own half for several minutes; Dinnis eventually offered relief with a huge kick upfield which was chased well by Ben Gordon and Jones, who grounded the ball for his second try of the match. Dinnis successfully converted the try.

The final try of the match went to Ali Francis with an immense run down the wing from his own half, handing off four Truro tacklers before grounding the ball.

Dinnis added the conversion to put the icing on the Lions' cake.
