Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League County Division One round-up – Saturday, August 22
ROCHE will remain in County Division One next season despite an eight-wicket defeat at home to champions Hayle.
Put into bat, the Clay Country outfit were all out for 173, Reuben Trethewey top scoring with 43, while Fletch Grimsey-Cook was next best with 34.
Luckett, however, had their relegation confirmed in a rain-affected game at Perranporth, who had earlier posted 255-7 from their 50 overs.
Tyler Murrell’s 75no was the highlight, but there were useful contributions from Travis Woolston (50), Dan Hall (48) and Cameron Bishop (44).
The wily Mark Southcott was the pick of the Luckett bowlers, taking 3-24 from his ten overs.
Set a target of 222 from 38 overs in their chase, the visitors came up just short, finishing on 215 all out from 36.3.
Opener Joe Hagan-Burt top scored for the visitors, striking seven fours and three sixes in his total of 53, while Luke Brenton added a further 46.
Batting first, the visitors totalled a paltry 145, which included 45 from Adam Jenkin and 30 from Adam Cocking.
Jack Ivamy (4-34) did much of the damage for the city side, while dad Neil (2-10) and Adam Price (2-19) were also on the mark.
In response, opener Max Finzel hit an unbeaten 60 – which included nine boundaries – while Charlie Kent (29) and Ted Phillips (26no) sealed the victory. Joe Crane claimed both wickets for Newquay.
In the day’s other games, Paul won by three wickets at Beacon, while Stithians defeated Falmouth by 78 runs.
