Cornwall Cricket Board (CCB) is trying to raise £3,500 to buy new strength and conditioning equipment to help the county’s young players.

Cornwall Cricket Board (CCB) are responsible for providing cricket opportunities for all abilities of players and the county has 14 elite youth teams ranging from under 10 to 17 year old boys and U13, 15 and 17 girls.

Cornwall Cricket Board say that for youngsters to reach peak fitness they need to invest in a range of strength and conditioning equipment to spark enthusiasm for and to develop fitness. Strength and conditioning training enables players to hit the ball further and builds stamina so that as they get older and cricket matches get longer they can sustain fitness throughout.

Joe Skinner, Cricket Development Manager said: ’We want to give our players the best experience possible in a fun learning environment. We don’t have much equipment currently and we are desperate to develop our young players holistically, ultimately benefiting Cornwall cricket and eventually the professional game.

’If Cornwall wants more players to progress into first-class cricket and compete with larger Ccunties we must develop this part of the programme. Our coaches are of equal calibre, so is the potential of our players, we just need the extra resources to train our players in this very important area of the game.’
