Gunnislake Cricket Club held their annual presentation evening at the Rifle Volunteer on Friday.
A lively evening commenced with a quiz that tested the brains of both the young and not so young with the winners being Barrie’s Prodigies – namely Stephen Lees and Sylvan Pook. A buffet supper provided by the Rifle Volunteer was enjoyed by all.
The presentation of awards was performed by club chairman Kevin Veal, in conjunction with captain Sam Boundy.
The winners were:
Best batting: Sam Boundy, average 46.86
Best bowling: Sylvan Pook, average 12.97
Best Young Player: Josh Crow
Players’ Player: Geoff Husband
Most catches: Sam Boundy, 12
Most Ducks: Brian Martin
Special award: Paul Lees, eight wickets for 13 runs
The chairman also presented flowers to Brenda Boundy as a thank you for providing the teas for most of the season, and also to scorer Di Hugo.
The club enjoyed a reasonably successful season, finishing fourth in division six of the Cornwall league.
The annual general meeting will be held on Monday, November 16, at the Rifle Volunteer, at 7.30pm. All existing members are asked to attend. Potential new players and anyone with an interest in supporting the club are also very welcome.
