Cornwall Senior Cup
second round
Saltash United 4, Illogan RBL 1
SALTASH survived an early shock at Kimberley Stadium on Wednesday night to run out comfortable winners against their Jolly's Cornwall Combination League visitors.
After a slow start, Illogan shook the home crowd by opening the scoring on 21 minutes.
Paul Wolstencroft's right-wing cross caused mayhem in the penalty area, before Sam Emery ended proceedings by prodding the ball past goalkeeper Mike Roberts, who was making his debut for the Ashes.
The home side hit back with two goals in a three-minute spell to take a lead they were never to lose.
Their equaliser arrived on 31 minutes when Chris Clarke netted his first goal for the club, tapping home a cross from Matt Cusack.
Their second came courtesy of a well-struck drive from the edge of the area by Dave Trott – also his first for the club – and the second period was 11 minutes old when another Cusack cross left full-back Stuart Clark with a simple tap-in.
