CARADON came away from Marjon with a well-earned point that secures their West Clubs' Women's Hockey League South Division status for another season.
With a few regulars missing, the visitors started cautiously. Becky Mortimore, growing in confidence in the holding role in midfield, combined well with Molly Walsh to pressure the Plymouth defence.
Approaching half-time, a weaving run from Laura Tuxford was abruptly ended by the Marjon keeper and, after a lengthy stop, Tuxford left the pitch unable to continue due to a bad shoulder injury.
With no substitute to call on Caradon needed to work extra hard to get anything out of the game.
With two minutes first half to go the game restarted, and Clare Poad took advantage of the
off-guard Plymouth defence, beating four defenders before slotting past the keeper to give the ten-man Cornish team the lead at the interval.
