Caradon 13
Tavistock A 0
Caradon's men were host to Tavistock A on Saturday in what is the first of the season's return fixtures and their last game before Christmas.
The first meeting between ended well for Caradon, so they were hoping for a repeat performance this time around.
The visitors started with the ball but were quickly robbed of possession as Caradon went on the attack. This run towards the Tavi goal gave Tyler Walsh his first chance of the game with a one on one against the visiting keeper, who flew at Walsh diving at his feet. A skillful pull back gave Walsh an easy push to open Caradon's tally.
The rest of the first half continued with an almost constant attack on the Tavistock goal by the home team with goals being scored regularly. There was a brief pause in the game when a Tavistock defender fell in front of a penalty corner strike at goal, the shot thumped into his back knocking the wind out of him and putting him out of the rest of the game.
Caradon weren't having many issues scoring with Leon Farrow licking the ball into the net from seemingly under the Tavi keeper.
Finn Andrews battled through most of the opposition to bag himself a great solo goal. By half-time Caradon were 6-0 up.
Caradon started the second half and went straight on the attack, led by Andrews again driving through the visitors' defense to score his second. Neil Spencer scored with a great deflection from a Farrow cross. When awarded a penalty corner Ollie Dinnis stepped up to see if he could convert a drag flick, which he had practised at Wednesday's training session. A good pass to the top of the circle was the prefect set up and young Dinnis didn't disappoint – the ball flew like a rocket past a stunned Tavistock defence into the top of the net.
Caradon struggled to keep their shape in the second half and this gave the visitors an opening.
But the home team defence were more than a match for the Tavi attack and any opportunity was shut down. With calls to slow down their game Finn Andrews seemed to take control of the midfield, keeping possession of the ball and working hard to keep the home team in control. Before the final whistle Andrews scored his third and won man of the match for the second week.
The game finished 13-0 to Caradon, a result that has given them a goal difference double that of their closest rival and they go into the Christmas break at the top of South West 1 league.
